The EYES have it!

October 8, 2018

Last Monday, our team hosted a few tables at the Celebrity Server Event benefitting the Young Women's Resource Center.    It was a great way to support a cause and spend time with some of our wonderful clients.

I got the pleasure of sitting next to Rachel Sivi who, along with her father, operate the locally and family owned business Vogue Vision.  I love (and highly recommend) this style-driven optical boutique and always find high fashion and diverse selections for both glasses and sunglasses.

During our discussions of her business, I asked Rachel if we could collaborate on a blog featuring the latest and greatest styles for both the eyes and women's fall clothing.

Luckily she said "Yes!"   The following day, Rachel brought our team several frames to choose from...Lisa, Stacie, and Emily claimed their favorites and hit the dressing room inspired.

We are out to prove that glasses don’t just improve how you see! If you wear them the right way, they can also improve how you look. The perfect glasses can complement your wardrobe and speak about your personality and sense of style.

Pretty in Pink

Lisa instantly gravitated toward a transparent soft pink pair of Chanel frames. The frames seemed to fit her personality, face shape and coloring beautifully.

Within a few moments, she chose to pair these beautiful glasses with a blush polka dot dress featuring gauzy long-sleeves and classic details but also with a decidedly modern feel.   The dress will be easy to wear with black ankle boots and a leather jacket to work, weekend dinners or even special occasions.

As we continued to look through the fun assortment of brand new frames that Rachel brought us, I asked her what she has been seeing as eyewear trends. Rachel tells us that "currently some of the eyewear trends we’ve been seeing are clear, beige and pink toned translucent, along with bringing back retro shapes ranging from round to aviator style (think Gloria Steinem in the 70’s!).  Also, plays on tortoise colors and patterns with fun and unique color variations rather than the classic brown tortoiseshell."

Studious Style

Stacie settled on rectangular Gucci glasses that had a hint of red in the front frame and a small amount of decorative detail on the sides.

I love this seriously fun look on Stacie from head to toe.

Stacie completes the look with silky slacks that feature the timeless polka dot, a resurgence of modern style that shows no signs of slowing down! Then she adds a classic black shirting that is elevated by a contrast collar and French style, elongated ivory cuffs that can be worn long or folded up.

Faux Tortoise Pink

Emily was immediately drawn to a soft pink and black tortoise-shell frame. This pattern, compared to black or other solid colors, can be much softer on the face and is great for complementing your complexion.

Emily paired this slightly retro frame with her favorite charcoal and lace oversized sweater from a new collection (IRO Paris) that we are beginning to carry at the store.    You will surely want to check out this line that is exclusive to K. Renee.

The Cat's Meow

'Wow' is all that I can say with Lisa's choice to rock these YSL cat shaped sunglasses.    Oh, the drama.

Lisa selected a wide leg black pant and a bold orange sweater by Malene Birger to stand up to this powerful frame.    I also love how she chose to wear this new leather dress from Theory opened to become a stylish jacket!

She looks like she has the world by the tail!

We asked Rachel how she helps her clients chose just the right frames for their face.   She tells us, While there are classic concepts around styling one in glasses correlating with their face shapes  (ex. Round faces look good in rectangle or square and more angular, oval-shaped faces look good in round. Think “opposites attract” ), we are definitely more interested in styling our customers to what looks great on their unique faces. Maybe it doesn’t always fit the ‘rules,' but if a frame stands out and fits one’s style and personality we’ve achieved our goals! "

Personally, I love working with someone like Rachel who has such extraordinary personal style.   It gives me the confidence to perhaps push my natural boundaries and find something extra special in my optical style.

Bold and Beautiful

Stacie found the perfect combination of a classic tortoiseshell that accents a solid, richly colored frame.

Feeling bold and beautiful, Stacie chooses a cobalt blue pair of slacks that will surely add a little pizzaz to her wardrobe.    With this pop of color, she chooses to pair her slacks back to a soft combination of tweed and suede booties.

This pant color is beautiful a great alternative to our basics that we tend to wear over and over again.

Rose Gold Beauty

We all fell in love with these rose gold beauties by Chanel and these glasses happen to be a part of Chanel's current marketing campaign.   It is no wonder why!

These fabulous sunglasses just arrived at Vogue Vision and I have no doubt they will fly out the door!

Emily pairs them with an equally stunning pair of gold cheetah print skinny jeans (that just arrived as well) with L' Agence's coveted, super stretch premium denim.

And who wouldn't enjoy a black zip front sweater with faux fur to keep the chill away on these cooler days we have been experiencing?

Amazing!

Rachel, we had an absolute blast working with your beautiful products!   Thank you.    My last question to Rachel was why we should all consider Vogue Vision as our optical vision resource.

She answers,  "Why buy your glasses at Vogue Vision? Our four locations around town are individually curated with the latest fashion styles and top designer brands in the business. Every pair is hand selected to create a diverse and unique mix of frames comparable to shopping in eyewear boutiques in major US cities. We pride ourselves on our selection but also our knowledgeable staff who can not only style you but help troubleshoot optical issues that may arise. Not to mention we have been a local, family owned and operated our business in Des Moines for over 40 years-something we’re very proud of!"

I'm sold!

One last thing that I want to share with you is our upcoming Veronica Beard Trunk Show.  Starting next Tuesday, we will have an expanded assortment of great styles from one of our favorite lines!   A Veronica Beard stylist will be here on Tuesday and Wednesday to help find the styles that suit you best.   Because we will have stock on hand for three days only, I would recommend making an appointment early in the week so you have the opportunity to select and take home with you the perfect pairings.

In the meantime, have a wonderful week!
