Styling Your Mood
June 3, 2019
As we head into Summer 2019, there is an endless assortment of places to go and things to do! This week is no exception with our big event on Wednesday (more on that in a bit) and it also being Winefest week which is an endless stream of fun and fancy things to do around town.

With so much going on...the question that we all struggle with is...what am I going to wear?

What I know to be true (at least for myself) is that it can often be difficult to plan because style is not just a personality thing...but also a mood thing. One moment my mood might be determination and the next it's “a girl just wants to have fun.”
Our closets should be a playground of creativity...that help us reflect the person that we are and want to be at any given time!

For me, my style moods tend to fall into three different categories (and there are so many more.)
The first is the Go-Getter.

I feel most at home in this mood and have learned that dressing to say you mean business doesn’t have to be boring and dull - and can smoothly go from day to night with a few wardrobe tweaks.
I have clearly trained my daughter well in the 'go-getter' mood as we picked out her “first day” of law school outfit with a serious (but fun) pink blazer paired with denim. She knows that if she looks good and appropriate for any given situation, she is going to feel more confident...which as you know goes a long, long way!

Okay, next mood. My free spirit mood. I actually love being in this particular mood, and sometimes when I need to get out of my own way, I dress to achieve this adventurous spirit. We have some great clothing lines that fill this need beautifully.

Norma Kamali has been helping me channel my happy go lucky self, and I think you will enjoy her designs and spirit as well! Most of her clothing line is wrinkle-free and machine washable - and to beat that convenience... stylish and comfortable!
My last but not least mood is my hopeless romantic side that loves lace, flounce, and an occasional ruffle.

I find this attire, perfect for vacations, outdoor evening events, pool parties - all the good things about summer! We have some crazy good options in our clothing boutique for any style and mood you may be looking to channel.
So what mood will I be channeling at our Luxe Interiors + Design celebration event next Wednesday?

Expect to see me in my Go-Getter mood. Beyond the celebration and kick off of some new showroom spaces within our already stunning home boutique, we will also be hosting a Women with Creative Vision panel that I believe will be inspiring to all of us ladies out there forging our way to unbridled success.
Don’t you want to hear from the best of the best and have all the young professionals in your life do the same? I do, my daughters (and son-in-law) will be there.

Moderator, Shannon Sharpe, the New York, Hamptons, and Chicago Homes Editor of Luxe Interiors + Design, will be asking our panelists things like:
What is the best and worst decision you’ve ever made?
What do you think is the most significant barrier to female leadership?
What is the best advantage to female leadership?
What woman inspires you and why?
What will be the biggest challenge and opportunity for the generation of women behind you?
What do you want to embody as a leader?
As an accomplished woman, what advice would you give to your younger self?
And so much more!
And as panelists, you will hear from...

Barbara J. Kniff-McCulla, owner and CEO of KLK Construction in Pella, Iowa. She has led her company to tremendous financial success and earned a reputation as an exceptional business owner.

Katie Patterson, the founder of Happy Medium, built her successful organization on two guiding principles: honesty and transparency. Under her leadership, Happy Medium has been named Best Workplace for Young Professionals, Best Social Media Company multiple years running, and made back-to-back appearances on the Inc. 5000 list.

Nichole Staker is an accomplished Interior Designer, Entrepreneur, and Author. She is also the founder of Nichole Staker Design Group which has lead or managed the design and/ or build of dozens of residential, commercial, and real estate investment projects.
And last but certainly not least, you will get to hear from our own creative visionary, Kelli Schulz. She will hate me writing about her but here goes anyway…

Kelli Schulz is the founder and creative force behind both K. Renee’s home and clothing divisions. To know Kelli, you simply have to “take-in” the ambiance that is K. Renee. Textures are layered, colors are serene and the tone whispers softness. Pieces are always inspirational and move you. Kelli applies the same critical eye for the extraordinary and has created a style team that works cohesively to provide the very best style, quality, and service that Central Iowa has ever experienced.
This portion of our evening will be a powerful 30 minutes of questions and answers.

We will also be hosting senior leaders from Bernhardt Interiors including another visionary woman, Dawn Pearson, Vice President, who is responsible for creating new products for the Interiors product lines and overseeing the Bernhardt Interiors Boutique program that we are so excited to be a part of as Central Iowa's exclusive resource for this stunning product line.
Simply put, a powerhouse of successful women that I am honored to get to celebrate with on Wednesday, June 5 from 6 to 8 in the evening. I do hope you, your friends, husbands, daughters, and sons can join us.
You can RSVP below (just to let us know how much wine, canapes, and giveaways to have on hand.)

Have a great Monday and Tuesday...and I'll be seeing you Wednesday night!
