Stacie's View: Daring to Dream
December 28, 2014
Yes, there is so much to to be thankful for in 2014 but bring on
I hope that everyone had a very special holiday filled with joy, friends and family! With the holiday behind us so many are looking forward to the future of what 2015 may bring. Personally I CANNOT wait for 2015!!!
My husband Travis and I will soon be moving into our new home and just a week after, my mom will have her last chemotherapy treatment. We are looking forward to many things but these two top the list!
With our move right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about how our décor is going to come together. I am feeling excited and well prepared after reading SoulSpace along with creating my dream board. I am ready to get this show on the road so we can enjoy everything we have been dreaming about!
I recently received word that our builder will be hanging our light fixtures this week. Seeing our fixtures up will make our house come alive. A great light fixture can make all the difference and can bring the whole room together.
Of course at K. Renee, we have so many beautiful lights to choose from! Here is a sneak peek of a few of the chandeliers and pendants that we have chosen for our new home.
This chandelier was one of the very first things that I put on my dream board. I absolutely love it and have plans for it to go in our living room. I love the dark finish of this fixture in an all-white room.
With an open floor plan it’s important that all of our fixtures coordinate beautifully with one another yet still give us a minimal modern look. We chose these clear glass pendants with a simple black cord for above the island. This light offered the cool modern look that I was wanting as a companion to our living room chandelier.
In our dining room (which sits directly across from our island) we chose this long modern meets industrial pendant. I simply cannot wait to see what it is going to look like above our new rustic dining table.
For our master bedroom I wanted something with a feminine flare. Travis and I chose this incredible chandelier, which is the perfect mix of vintage and modern. With its curvaceous silhouette draped in chains, beads and crystals it almost becomes a piece of jewelry for our ceiling.
For the paint color in our home, Travis and I settled on an all white pallette. We chose Benjamin Moore’s Decorators White for the ceiling, trim and walls. For a bit of a contrast trim was done in a semi-gloss and the walls in a matte finish. To play it safe with white, choose a white that has basically no subtle undertone at all.
With our paint selection and modern style, texture is going to be very important in our home. I love to layer so this shouldn’t be a problem! One piece that is sure to go in our house is this Icelandic sheepskin throw that will provide lots of lush texture.
Okay, now I am really starting to get excited! I can’t believe it is just a couple of weeks until move in day.
As much as I love the furniture from my old home, the reality is that some of it will work and some of it won’t. With that in mind, I still have a few more pieces to select once we actually make the move. Luckily, there are so many new and beautiful things arriving at the store daily! Here are a few things we currently have our eyes on….
I love these antiqued mirrors and are considering putting them on both sides of our fireplace. I think everyone should have one somewhere in their home. A mirror is about definition and decoration rather than checking one's reflection.
Travis and I also have our eyes on this gorgeous zebra patterned chair with a stainless steel frame and this hide ottoman that is one of my personal favorites. We think these chairs belong in our new living room and will complement our pre-existing Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams sectional that we love and intend to keep.
It was a newer purchase for our last home and although it is more transitional than modern, it will work beautifully! Our kiddos Bosco and Chloe love lounging on it too.
As we get closer to moving day we will be deciding on what comes with us and what must go. I will be using this quote below when making these decisions…
Travis and I look forward to decorating and creating the home that we have been dreaming about, one that reflects our taste and our passions and that is comfortable yet elegant.
Once we are all moved in, we can’t wait to have my parents down for a visit. Our house will certainly be ready for a celebration. We look forward to celebrating our blessings, good health and my mom’s newfound energy!
I encourage you to come into our store and visit with us about your dreams for your home. We would love to help make those dreams a reality! We so appreciate the opportunity to share our space with you and wish you a very Happy New Year!
