Spring Tease

February 4, 2019

Talk about a dramatic way to close out January and enter February.    We’ve gone from a polar vortex to nothing short of a spring tease yesterday with the 70 plus degree temperature shift.

Crazy!   Now I know that winter is far from over and I expect February to be a chilly one but there are signs all around us that warmer and longer days are just ahead. I refuse to wish away time, so instead, I am going to view this month as Spring preparation instead.

At our store meeting last Friday, Jeff asked each of our staff “what our strategies are for getting through the winter months.” We must be a strange crew because most of us confessed that we are a bit home obsessed and truly do enjoy cozying up with our pets by the fireplace and enjoying our homes.

I suppose that is good because we are all practicing what we preach...that a home should feel like a warm blanket and soothing sanctuary.

But now that Spring has begun to tease, there are a few more things we can do to take advantage of this last uber chilly month.

About two weeks ago, I noticed that it wasn’t getting dark so early!   This simple miracle made me so very happy. Since we close at 6 pm at the store, it can be difficult to leave work in pitch black.     And according to the sunrise and sunset calculator, it will be light before 7 am and dark after 6 pm by the end of the month! Yeah.

These little miracles will be constant over the next couple of months and even though it happens every year, it still never ceases to amaze.

Well, nothing says spring is coming like flowers, does it?   While it might be a bit before we get to see this nature’s miracle, we can start wearing them!   I am loving this green long sleeve floral dress that has a retro feel. How fun would this be to wear on St. Patrick's day?   And for you redheads...a must-have!

Or how about this day to night trouser?     Not your everyday boring black trouser, rather a silk-blend pant with a relaxed fit and a delicate floral print.  Yes, I think so!

As long as you are stuck inside for the next 30 days or so, why not restyle your home?

It doesn’t have to be a major ordeal. It could be mixing up your decor, accents, and books from your coffee table, consoles or shelves to give them a quick refresh.

Or how about swapping out your pillows?   This is the easiest way to give bedrooms and living rooms a fresh boost of color and pattern.

I know, I know.   It is tough sometimes to figure out just what to do when simply want to restyle your existing space without changing all of your furniture.   Which is why K. Renee is taking our styling workshop OUT of the showroom and INTO a home.

On February 21st, we are collaborating with Amanda Hood (of Limelife by Alcone) for a Spring Refresh Workshop!

From 6:30-8:30 pm, we will be serving drinks, hors-d'oeuvres to 20 guests as our stylists do a live demonstration using the homeowner's actual space showing just how easy it can be to refresh your own home.   Directly following that Amanda will then share a spring beauty routine featuring her make-up line along with a mini-makeover.

The ultimate girls night IN.   We have a few spots left you are interested in attending, please visit K. Renee Style Workshops for more information.  Never fear, if you can't make this one...we will be doing more of these in-home events during 2019!

It seems to me that this winter season has been particularly wet and muddy.   As a matter of fact, I just ordered this gadget I found...a Pet Paw Cleaner to help me minimize the mess.

I’ll let you know how it goes.  LOL. Regardless of my pet issues, now and again, it just is time to replace those rugs that are beginning to look worn after the wear and tear of a few Iowa winters. No matter what your style, a fresh new rug can instantly change the look and feel of your space!

And I do dare say, that February and March are wonderful months to take a little warm-weather vacation.  Lots of you are heading out with friends, family, and kids over the next few weeks but for the rest of us, February is a wonderful time to start planning your next great adventure.

I know the rest of the week is going to be much colder but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.   We have lots of warm weather destination clothing options arriving daily. So stop by and let us give you some Spring tease.   I promise you’ll be inspired!

Have a wonderful week.
