Dream It, Build It, Love It!

July 3, 2016

After several years of living in your home with a kitchen or bathroom that is barely functional and blah, you might be ready for a change. You dream of the day where you actually look forward to walking into the space instead of constantly assessing what could or should be different.

Perhaps it’s time to update your kitchen or bathroom (and even your closet space) to better serve not only your evolving style but your functional needs.

If that is the case, then a new service that we now offer through K. Renee might just be one of your many options in creating a new dream space.

Why think custom? Stocked or semi-custom cabinets will offer you lots of versatility but custom cabinets give you unlimited design choices and personalized details. You don’t have to settle for the typical options that are readily available... you can set your imagination free!

Consider the impact of being able to add texture, beauty and functionality to not only your cabinets but to all the surrounding areas in your home.

We first fell in love with the work of Jay Ryan (who is partnering with K. Renee Home Custom Cabinetry) on a new construction project in 2015.   And I’d like to share some of the details of his “Made to Order” cabinetry that we loved the most.

The soft creme cabinets chosen for this kitchen were complemented with a custom finish not only on the center island but on the walls that surrounded the appliances and cabinets. It created a sophisticated and polished look. This same custom finish was used again in an adjacent entertainment station.

Notice the gouged wood inlay that was installed behind the open shelves. It was simply stunning and this thoughtful design element is the difference between manufactured and custom cabinetry.

The small details always seem to impress me the most. I loved how the custom materials were again used for creating the built-in shelves and trim surrounding the stone fireplace.

A basic bathroom cabinet is given a luxurious textured finish. The adze-style gouges give this wood cabinet a subtle, yet oh-so modern finish.

This same finish was used again in another guest bathroom to create this beautiful floating vanity. My favorite part? The lighting installed underneath was motion controlled so that when you walked into the dark bathroom...Voila, illumination! Very handy when coming home to a dark house!

You know those hard to work with niches that always seem to perplex you with what to do?  Why not re-think that space and create a built in custom cabinet or even a small work area?

The basement of this home really had one of the most impressive bars that I have seen. It is both masculine and elegant, a marriage made in heaven.

No more messy mudroom cubbies to deal with these custom designed lockers for the entire family. Not only does it provide great storage but a clean and tidy solution for a room that typically falls into messy disarray.

Come take a look for yourself at all the possibilities. Not only do we have samples to spark your imagination at our new design center but all of our cabinetry at the clothing store was designed and created by Jay and his team. All we had to do was dream it, Jay built it and we love it!

And now you can do the same! There is lots going on at K. Renee, and in particular, don’t forget to mark you calendar for Thursday, July 21st from 5:30 to 8:00 pm to join us in celebration. We will have a live performance by Bonne Finken out in our parking lot for an evening of celebration and friendship.

Here is a little bit more about Bonnie…

Bonne Finken was born to sing, and has been a professional vocalist since 2005. But it took a battle with cancer to really get her in gear. Once she got the word from doctors saying she was cancer-free, she wasted no time, joining her first band only a few weeks later. ? She became the first independent Iowa artist to receive regular rotation on the Top 40 radio station STAR 102.FM with her single,"StepBackBaby" from acclaimed album "Fairytales/LoveAffairs" nominated for Album of The Year - Indie Music Digest.

Finken’s fierce passion for and commitment to her music is only amplified by her voice, her magnetic stage presence and by her diverse musical talent.

We hope to see you there!
