Dinner Français!

I'd want to introduce you to Cyd’s Catering and the fabulous Chef Cyd Koehn. We have gotten to know her quite well over the years as both a catering resource and as a K. Renee client.
Cyd is a woman who is incredibly talented and works so very hard. At the end of a long day, she dreamed of a home that embraced her and gave her cozy comfort. Luckily, she chose K. Renee to help her realize her dream over the last couple of years.

If you have the occasion to ask, Cyd will be the first person to tell you how important it is to have a home that you truly enjoy and soothes the soul. In 2019, Cyd's Catering was named 2019 Best of Des Moines - Best Caterer.

Large business and private events for breakfast, lunch, and dinners were at the very core of her business. And then 2020 happened where large gatherings and events almost completely evaporated for the time being. As you can imagine, just like everyone in the hospitality industry, business has become a great challenge.
This challenge will not keep Cyd or her catering business from rising to the new challenges faced in 2020. How is she doing it? By taking every opportunity that comes her way - no matter how big or small. She is also augmenting her business by offering weekly to-go specials for families and small groups.

What an easy way to have restaurant quality food at home. Not only can you pick up these 4 and 5-course meals curbside, but you can also use them as a basis for a seated dinner party complete with having Cyd herself onsite to cook and her assistant to provide service.
Hmm. You know I like any excuse to host a small dinner party. A good friend of mine had recently retired and I thought it would be a fun opportunity to bring together a group of women to help her celebrate. This particular group of funny and fabulous women have not been able to gather as a group for over 4 years. What?! The time was now.
I looked through Cyd’s fabulous menu options and chose “Dinner Francois” as my inspiration.

To my great surprise, I found a date that worked for all of the old gang to gather and celebrate. My only responsibility was to create a tablescape that set a celebratory mood. Cyd and her service team would provide all the rest including wine pairing recommendations for each course. Easy.
As I went about setting my table, I chose a black and white charger to pair with my Mothers' Havilland floral china that she recently gifted to me. This was a girls’ night after all!

The pink in the dishes inspired the pink roses and greens that ran down the middle of my table. I know this looks complicated but I promise it’s not. I purchased a 6’ garland of fresh greens and simply placed a few pink roses and white flowers throughout. Voila’.
Now, how about that dinner? Served precisely at 7.

It was all delicious. Oh my. We had a fabulous, easy, tasty dinner allowing us to fully enjoy our time together and celebrate a very important life milestone. It was an evening that doesn’t get any better than that. Thank you so much, Cyd.

Not only is this the time in our lives to embrace special moments, giving them our all, it is also a wonderful time to support small businesses that are so profoundly affected this year. Win-win in my book.
I hope you have a delicious week!
