A New Life
November 2, 2020
There can be such joy when starting over! One such client decided to leave a large suburban home (with all its constant maintenance demands inside and out) for a simpler life in a gorgeous downtown condominium.
While choosing to bring a few of her treasured goods (such as a baby grand piano), our client found this move the perfect opportunity to purge things of the past and begin anew.
Just last week, our client closed on 2100 square foot condominium with the most amazing views of the downtown skyline from the north, west, and south! When our client purchased this unit, the previous owners had a family room area in the photo below marked as A, another sitting area in the image marked B. The dining room was positioned near the master bedroom (encased in glass) in the photo marked C.

Naturally, our client thought that her family room would remain in position A, her baby grand piano in the former sitting area (B), and to leave the dining room in position C near the master bedroom.
Not so fast. There are other possibilities. When Kelli and Stacie toured the space to help select new furnishings, Kelli had a strong intuition that our client should reconsider how to layout the space. Our client had visited our showroom for some 'urban' inspiration before closing and fell in love with this modular lounge sofa.

It's contemporary beauty, optimal comfort, and flexible configurations (the lounge can reside on either side of the sofa) made this a fantastic choice for her new place. Although this sofa could fit into position A, Kelli encouraged our client to make this area the dining room closer to the kitchen. It just seemed to make better sense.

Then, to position the baby grand and the family room in the larger area (B & C). Let's take a look at how it all turned out. From the moment you walk in the door...

Walking through the door, our client is greeted by a beautiful little vignette. One of her favorite finds was the crocodile and acrylic pedestal that fills the corner so beautifully, along with a bench where she can easily land to take off her shoes and get comfortable in her new home.

The new furnishings and revised layout work so beautifully. The new dining area has such incredible views!

We love the two-sided fireplace, where both the living room and dining room can enjoy the added warmth and cozy vibe. Concrete floors can make a space cold, so we add lots of texture layers to create a relaxing and serene space to relax.

The baby grand piano sits elegantly in its own glory and certainly will inspire our client to sit down and play. While the daytime views are incredible, you can only imagine how magical this place is at night. Can you hear the music? I can.

The master bedroom was fitted with new bedding, pillows, accessories, a rug, and a lovely curved lounge and table. What a perfect place to take your morning coffee to take on the day!

What an incredible view for our client to enjoy when she sits down to play her cherished piano. And it reminds me of a beautiful quote.
“Life is like a piano. What you get out of it depends on how you play it.”
– Tom Lehrer

We thank our client so much for allowing us to help her create a new space that will undoubtedly be a part of living life beautifully for many years to come!
Enjoy the day and all that it can bring.
Until next week,
