Shoes Glorious Shoes

Like many women, the stylists of K. Renee are passionate about shoes…heels, flats, boots, booties, loafers, flip flops, athletic…we love them all!!
Growing up in Des Moines, I remember I. Eugene’s was the place to find the best shoes in town. Unfortunately, this wonderful locally owned shoe boutique closed about 18 years ago. So, I can’t tell you how excited I was when Susy Damon, former co-owner of I. Eugene’s, joined K. Renee as our shoe buyer. Over the past few months, Susy has been busy expanding our shoe selection and I have to tell you I think it's fabulous.
Susy has been working on our shoe collection so you can be prepared for any occasion this spring and summer by having the right shoes in your closet. With that in mind, we wanted to share a few ideas from Susy and the rest of our K. Renee stylists to help you be ready for anything going on this season.
For a spring wedding, make sure you have a basic nude heel or flat that matches your skin tone and will go with anything...with an added bonus of making your legs look longer. Here are two favorites...
This pumb by Stuart Weitzman is both elegant and alluring. This shoe goes easily from day to night.
This runway sandal also by Stuart Weitzman is an iconic stiletto that not only rules the red carpet but looks just as great with a distressed boyfriend jean.
To be ready for the many outdoor events, like Polo on the Green, Winefest or graduation parties, a gold embellished sandal is a must to avoid a heel from sinking into a grassy lawn! This black and gold sandal is a stunning choice.
Farmers markets across central Iowa are in full steam; a chic sneaker or casual flat are great for walking around.. while still making a fashion statement.
Loving these black leather and silver flats!
This sneaker is great for wearing to the ball field or on playground play dates. Walking for miles in fashion. No problem!
We think that brunch or an evening out with your girlfriends calls for a great pair of wedges or fun platform shoes.
The neutral stretch fabric and the 70’s inspired platform shoes were once again featured in spring and summer 2015 runway shows.
Susy Damon’s go to shoe this spring is the Vince platform with an ankle strap stating; “the platform makes me tall without the pitch of a high heel.”
Traveling to a beach destination? Make sure you pack a great pair of sandals that can dress up an outfit or be worn with a sun dress or shorts.
A classic slip on sandal is great for going back and forth to yoga class. This version of a jellie is especially fun.
A weekend road trip requires versatility; think about a sandal with a chunky block heel and a cute pair of ballerina flats.
Currently, this is the hottest sandal of the season…its dressy enough to wear with a cocktail dress and comfortable enough to walk around in all day.
And we also have a cute line of ballerina flats that come in a variety of color options. It truly is the perfect travel shoe, with its latex sole and memory foam insole. It feels just like a sneaker.
If you plan to attend the Iowa State Fair or one of the many music festivals held around the state, a comfortable, but stylish pair of chestnut suede sandals is the perfect selection.
If you are looking for an alternative to your black pump for business…one of these snake print Vince shoes can provide a nice change, but still give you the professional look you need.
Really, there is no one more experienced and knowledgeable about shoes and fit than our own Susy Damon.
All of us have learned a thing or two about fit from her... and I think you will enjoy working with her as well. She has tips and tricks about how to make an uncomfortable shoe suddenly become not only wearable, but comfortable. Are you hard to fit? Susy can likely help you out. Recently, she was able to secure some stylish shoes in a size 4.5 for a petite client of ours... a rather difficult proposition to find at times. Susy works throughout the week, but is always in the clothing store and at your service on Fridays.
Yes, we love our shoes... and hope you do too!
Verging on being a shoe addict,
